HB Hero of the Year 2017 Awards
What: Just one hero will receive the HateBraker Hero award this year: Sammy Rangel, the TEDx global speaker from Raine, Wisconsin.
He survived a childhood of brutal, sadistic abuse which led to his early adulthood perpetrating the very hate and violence he experienced in his youth.
But Sammy broke the cycle of hate. Big Time. He founded Life After Hate and Formers Anonymous. Sammy will talk about how he dismantles violent extremism by guiding “formers” in their own transitions away from their lifestyle of bigotry and brutality into lives with meaning.
By familiarizing himself with the tactics and strategies of the online presence of violent extremists, Sammy will explain how to identify and access those most in need of intervention and inform those of us who want to help interrupt the cycle of hate.
The presentation and Sammy’s talk will be followed by interactive discussions with other HateBrakers.
Watch for word of our VIP Reception earlier that day.
